J'ai oublié de joindre les gabarits pour le porte-clé Cochon. Les voilà :
I forget to join the Pig key ring pattern. Here it is:
1 carré = 0,5 mm
1 square = 1/4 inch
J'ai craqué sur cet adorable petit porte-clé, et le principe du lien qui rétracte les clés sous une poche me plaît bien.
I saw a cute little key ring, and I like how the keys are hidden inside a pocket.
Voilà donc ma version du porte-clé :
Here is my version:
J'ai coupé 3 fois le corps du cochon : 2 fois dans du tissu et 1 fois dans du molleton fin. Les 3 épaisseurs sont cousues ensemble, endroit contre endroit pour les
tissus, et le molleton par-dessus (gabarits ici).
I cut 3 times the pig's body: 2 times in fabric, 1 time in the batting. The 3 ones are sewn, right sides together for the fabrics, and the batting on top (pattern here).

Pour la poche du dos, j'ai commencé par broder une petite queue, puis cousu la poche endroit contre endroit, avant de la rabattre sur l'arrière, en laissant une
petite ouverture au sommet pour le passage du lien.
For the pocket, I started by embroidering a small queue, then machine stitch the pocket right sides together with the body, before turning it right side down, leaving a small opening on top.
La tête a du molleton au centre comme le corps, le groin aussi.
Les narines ont été appliquées avec de la feutrine.
Les oreilles sont faites avec des carrés de 6 cm pliés pour faire une pointe, puis appliquées derrière la tête.
La tête est ensuite appliquée sur le corps.
Le lien est une tige de 30 cm x 3 cm, cousue puis retournée.
The head has batting inside, as well as the nose.
The nostrils are in felt, appliquéd.
The ears are made from 2 squares 2 2/1" folded to form points, then appliquéd behind the head.
The head is appliquéd on top of the body.
For the link, I cut a 12" x 1" tube, sewn and turned upside down.
Et un petit pincushion tout simple, et tout mignon !
Je l'ai baptisé "Pique-aiguilles des îles" parce que le madras vient de Martinique, et les autres tissus, de Tahiti.
Alors voilà, pour le réaliser c'est très simple, surtout avec la couture sur papier.
Here is a small pincushion so easy to do, with the foundation paper piecing.
I named it "Pincushion from the islands" because the madras fabric comes from Martinique, and the other fabrics, from Tahiti.
J'ai tracé un cercle de 12 cm de diamètre sur du papier calque, divisé en 2 moitiés, elles-mêmes divisées en 4 portions égales.
I draw a 4 3/4" circle on tracing paper, divided in 2, and each one in 4.

Après l'assemblage des 2 moitiés pour faire un cercle, puis des 2 cercles, il s'agit de bien bourrer le coussin.
I stuff it after joining the 2 halves together, then the 2 circles together.
Ensuite avec du gros fil épais, ficeler le coussin en partant toujours du centre.
With heavy thread, start always from the center to round the pincushion.
Pour camoufler le noeud et les nombreux passages du gros fil, on peut coudre un bouton, ou autre chose au centre du coussin. J'ai choisi des perles, pour faire un
peu plus coeur de fleur.
To make the hart of the pincushion in a flower-like way, I sew beads.
Hier j'ai fait un petit pique-épingles, ou pique-aiguilles pour une copine.

Instructions de réalisation :
- 2 carrés de 10 cm x 10 cm (9 cm x 9 cm finis), en tissu unis, ou des blocs piécés (log cabin, ou autre, j'ai opté pour des lignes radiantes avec 5 tissus différents, en couture sur papier, attention les 2 blocs doivent être symétriques)
- 1 carré de 5 cm x 5 cm en tissu clair
- 1 carré de 7,5 cm x 7,5 cm en tissu sombre
- 1 crête en feutrine rouge (patron ici )
- 1 bec en feutrine jaune (patron ici )
- molleton pour bourrer
Instructions:
- 2 squares 4" x 4" (3 1/2" x 3 1/2" finished) of your plain fabric, or identical log cabin blocks, or other pieced blocks (I made 2 symmetrical radiant lines
blocks, with 5 fabrics, foundation pieced
- 1 square 2" x 2" of your light fabric
- 1 square 3" x 3" of your dark fabric
- 1 felt "comb" (pattern here )
- 1 felt "beak" (pattern here )
- stuffing
Un bloc posé à l'endroit (si piécé, tissu foncé en haut), placer le bec à 1 cm en-dessous de l'angle droit, pointe vers l'intérieur du bloc ; et la crête à 1 cm à gauche du même
angle.

Couvrir du 2ème bloc, endroit contre endroit (tissus foncés en haut), coudre 3 côtés, laisser ouvert le côté opposé au bec. Retourner.
Superposer la couture du milieu du dos avec celle du milieu du ventre, et marquer l'ourlet.
Lay down one block, right side up (if pieced, with the dark half of the block to the top left).
Place the felt beak, with the tip of the beak pointing toward the inside of the block, about 3/8" down from the top edge of the block. Place the felt comb, with the scalloped edge pointing toward
the inside of the block, about 3/8" in from the right edge of the block.
Place the second block on top of the first, right sides together (matching light to light and dark to dark).
Sew a 1/4" seam around 3 sides of the blocks, and leave the opposite side of the beak open. Turn.
Finger press under 1/4" all around the opening. Holding under the 1/4" seam allowance, match the center "back" seam of the chicken to the center of the "belly"
seam.
Faire la queue : plier 2 fois les carrés de tissu clair et sombre de façon à obtenir des petits triangles (voir schéma ici ).
Superposer le plus clair sur le plus foncé, et les insérer dans la couture ouverte.
Bourrer avec un peu de molleton et coudre la moitié du côté ouvert. Finir de bourrer et fermer l'ouverture.
Press your light and dark squares as if you were making prairie points: fold in half diagonally, wrong sides together, and then fold in half again and press. All the raw edges should now be on one edge. Lay the smaller light prairie point on the larger dark prairie point, matching raw edges.
Tuck the prairie point "tail" into the seam.
Starting at one edge, sew the opening closed as far as the center. Stuff it. Finish sewing the seam.
Coudre des perles, ou broder des noeuds pour les yeux.
Sew two black beads, or make French knot eyes with black embroidery floss.
Une étoile de mer sur une feuille... étrange me direz-vous. Eh bien oui, à l'origine ça devait être une fleur !
A starfish on a leaf... strange?
Yes, it should be a flower!
Sur le modèle de Violet, avec beaucoup de couleurs et sans trop compliquer l'assemblage.
Inspired by the Violet design, with plenty
of colors, and easy directions.
J'ai donc dessiné un petit patron de l'étoile et de la feuille.
So I draw a small template for a flower, and a leaf.
Exécution de la feuille : couper 2 fois le patron en forme de cacahuète des chutes de tissu vert, et 1 fois dans du molleton.
Superposer le molleton, et les 2 feuilles endroit contre endroit, et coudre en laissant une petite ouverture pour retourner la feuille. Fermer à petits points.
Making of the leaf: cup 2 leaf templates in scraps of green fabric, and 1 in batting. Layer the batting and the 2 leaves right sides together, and sew leaving a small opening. Turn the leaf right
side out, and close with tiny stitches.
Exécution de l'étoile : tracer le patron sur du papier calque, en 2 moitié et coudre les tissus en alternant les couleurs neutres et vives sur chaque branche, en couture sur papier.
Assembler les 2 moitié et coudre l'étoile sur le fond, endroit contre endroit, en laissant une petite ouverture pour la retourner.
Making of the
star (flower): trace the flower template onto tracing paper in 2 half designs, and sew mixing neutral and bright fabrics with paper piecing method.
Join the 2 half and sew with the background right sides together, leaving a small opening.
Bourrer avec des chutes de molleton, et fermer l'ouverture à petits points.
Turn the star right side out, stuff with batting, and sew tiny stitches to close the opening.
Cela ressemble plus à une étoile de mer qu'à une fleur !
This looks like a starfish, not a flower!
Tant pis, j'attache quand même la feuille à l'étoile par un point au centre, mais je couds un petit coquillage...
It doesn't matter, I join the leaf
to the star by a stitch through the center, but I add a small seashell...
Et voilà mon pique-aiguille Etoile de mer !
